Advanced Ecotoxicology

We live in an increasingly polluted environment, which is reflected in our condition and health. Respiratory diseases and growing number of cancer is largely linked to environmental contaminants. Which ones are the most dangerous? What is their toxicity? Can we find any solutions to these problems?

These and many other questions will be answered during the course Advanced ecotoxicology. The lectures will be addressed in details on selected issues that have been signaled in the Principles of Ecotoxicology course. They will be discussed on the basis of the data available in the scientific literature. Particular emphasis will be put on the place of man in the contaminated environment. The issues related to individual components of the environment and the associated pollution will be also undertaken. Due to the large number of potential pollutants, only selected and the most dangerous ones will be thoroughly discussed.

The university-wide course Advanced Ecotoxicology is dedicated to students of all levels, modes and subjects. For the full-time students the course is taught in the classroom and through the e-learning platform, which is available for all UP students (the division between classes and e-learning activities depend on the preferences of the participants and it will be discussed during the first lecture). For the external students the whole course is taught by the e-learnig platform.

The course as one from the ecotoxicology series at the Pedagogical University is connected with the facebook profile Ecotoxup where  the scientific news concerning ecotoxicology, biomonitoring and environmental chemistry are being shared. All the students are welcome to subscribe this profile.

Skills needed before the course: communicative English.
Courses needed before the course:
Principles of Ecotoxicology.

Advanced Ecotoxicology is the continuation of the course Principles of Ecotoxicology.
